Music Lessons.
Founded in 2018, Northwest Music Academy is the joint project of Luke Neilson and Leila Noonan. Since then the team has expanded to include two more excellent teachers. Click here to read more about our teachers.

Schedule and Duration:
All of the following music lessons are set weekly or bi-weekly lessons, and can be 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes in duration.

In Your Home or Ours:
We offer all of our lessons in our home studio in NW Calgary.
We are also happy to provide in-home lesson service for all of our subjects. There is a $15 Mobile Convenience Add-On for each in-home lesson.

Piano Lessons
Contemporary/Jazz | Classical | Beginners | RCM Exam Prep

Our students learn how to read, interpret, and perform piano pieces, whether at the beginner or advanced level. Each lesson consists of theory and technical training, repertoire, and music-related games. Students can expect to receive practice instructions every week and quarterly assessments of their progress (available upon request).​

Guitar Lessons

Our students learn how to chord, solo, improvise, and collaborate with instrumentalists. Each lesson consists of theory, technique, repertoire, and music-themed exercises and games. Students can expect to receive detailed, written practice instructions every week in addition to quarterly assessments of their progress (available upon request).

Voice Lessons

Our students learn how to use their voice in a natural and healthy way. Each lesson will consist of warm-ups, songs of the student's and the teacher's choices, theoretical training, and ear training. Students can expect to receive detailed, written practice instructions every week in addition to quarterly assessments of their progress (available upon request).​

Theory and History Lessons
Contemporary | Classical | RCM Exam Prep

Our students learn how to analyze and interpret complex musical pieces. They also discover the historical and philosophical contexts in which such pieces were composed and performed. We offer preparation for the technical aspects (sight-reading, ear-training, etcetera) of RCM examinations. ​
